Project Name: Philippine Secondary national road Development Project (SNDRP) CP2 Slope Remediation Works

Location: Taft, eastern samar and hinabangan, western samar

Client: Millenium Challenge Account Philippines

With its proven track-record and expertise in the supply and construction of erosion control and slope stabilization. RTerra is awarded the contract for slope remediation works in the Secondary National Road Development Project funded by Millenium Challenge Corporation.

Several vertically-inclined slopes were identified as landslide prone areas along the roads stretching over the barangays of Lomatud (Burak) and Binaloan in the Municipality of Taft, Eastern Samar. On these slopes, RTerra constructed a slope protection system consisting of a total of 6,300 sqm of wire mesh/rock nets, 4,800 sqm of reinforced turf matting (cocofiber geocomposite and bi-axial geogrid), 3,000 sqm of galvanized steel wire rope and gabions as catchment barrier at the bottom. Adding to the reinforcement of these slopes were RTerra’s installation of 1,700 pieces of soil bags, 1,800 sqm of geogrid, 800 sqm of non-woven geotextile fabric, 800 sqm coconet and drainage blanket.

The roads along the Municipality of Hinabangan, Western Samar were also identified as having landslide prone areas. RTerra re-constructed these slopes by installing 5,900 sqm of reinforced rock nets, 1,100 sqm of reinforced turf matting, 1,400 sqm of coconet, 1,145 linear meters of rock bolts, 75 linear meters of rockfall barrier and 20 pieces of 178-mm diameter micropiles. Additional reinforcements were installed on these slopes, including 230 cubic meters of gabions, 270 sqm of non-woven geotextile and reinforced concrete retaining wall.
