Project Name: Rehabilitation/Reconstruction of Landslides and Collapsed Slopes along the National Road

Location: Cateel Road, Barangay Aliwagwag, Davao Oriental

Client: Department of Public Works and Highways (Region 11)

The landslides and collapsed slopes along Cateel Road, which is close to Aliwagwag Falls, required an environmentally sound solution for its restoration. With its proven track record and expertise in rockfall protection, RTerra provided the supply and install of 310-m rockfall barriers (passive system) and 4,500 sqm of rockfall wire rope nets (active system), including 15,000 sqm of PVC-coated safety nets and 4,500 sqm of erosion control mats along the landslide sections of Cateel Road in the 1st Lone District of Davao Oriental.

Aside from supply and install, RTerra was also involved in the verification test of the depth of anchors by conducting a geotechnical investigation. The result of the investigation confirmed that there was a need to redesign the depth of anchors from 4 m to 15 m.

RTerra utilized galvanized rockfall barriers and rockfall wire rope nets for protection against harmful elements in the environment. The rockfall wire rope nets, in particular, used smaller wire mesh openings to capture small rock fragments falling from the slopes. Additional wire rope mesh panels were installed to strengthen the rockfall system against big rock fragments.

RTerra was subcontracted by Maverick Builders, Inc. for this project.
